I have been working for 30 years to provide justice to Hennepin County and its residents. As an attorney in the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, I have worked in the Child Support Section representing clients in family law related matters and the Child Protection Section representing the Hennepin County Department of Children and Family Services. In 1996, I joined the Civil Division where I work today representing every department throughout Hennepin County and Hennepin Healthcare Services (formerly known as HCMC) in employment and labor law matters. My knowledge and experience advising and defending county departments and their personnel make me uniquely qualified to be the next Hennepin County Commissioner for the 6th District.
I grew up in Edina and graduated from Edina-West High School. I am a University of Minnesota graduate and I earned a Juris Doctor Degree from William Mitchell College of Law. My husband Michael and I have been married for 38 years. Michael is a dentist and business owner in Minnetonka. When our first child was born, we knew that we wanted to raise our family in Minnetonka and have lived there ever since. Our two children attended grades K-12 in Hopkins School District. Our son Geoff is an orthodontist and owner of Mint Orthodontics in Linden Hills. He has given me four amazing grandchildren. Our daughter Samantha earned a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Minnesota and is currently working at a tech company.
I love where I live and work and I feel so fortunate to be a part of a special community. My family and I spend our summers boating on Lake Minnetonka and playing golf at Braemar Golf Course. We love biking on the miles of trails our community offers. I enjoy shopping and eating in Excelsior and Wayzata and working out at the Ridgedale YMCA. For years, my family and I have been active volunteers in our neighborhood, schools and community and now I want to work ON YOUR BEHALF.
The role of County Commissioner is complex and varied. The experience, knowledge and connections that I have with Hennepin County leaders means that if elected, I will be ready and prepared for the job on day one. My lifelong residence and connections in the district make me unquestionably the most qualified candidate for the position. As a member of the Hennepin County Board, I will be a moderate voice who will actively advocate for the members of my community in a respectful and inclusive way.
I believe experience and knowledge matter.
It would be an honor to represent you and your family as Hennepin County Commissioner for District 6.
